North Wales is a hive of activity for doctors from junior to consultant level who wish to further their careers in a surrounding area full of many delights to enjoy while living up here.
We have some of the great opportunities training, working and living in North Wales whilst being a part of the NHS offers you as a doctor.
Ysbyty Gwynedd situated at Bangor provides a wealth of opportunities for doctors to move their career’s forward, all surrounded by an amazing playground to explore.
The successful Mountain Medicine programme attracts doctors from all over the UK and beyond ever year due to the variety of the posts on offer and the chance to work with a dedicated and great ED team. Working here you will experience a job role that is designed around you benefiting your career development.
Glan Clwyd Hospital provides a new outlook and environment for doctors starting work at the site thanks to a multi million pound development. The hospital has seen new buildings come on line including the Emergency Quadrant and North Wales Cardiac Centre and its wards, theatres, and outpatient areas fully redeveloped
The hospital offers a variety of specialist areas to further your career, being home also to the North Wales Cancer Centre. It recently introduced a clinical fellowship programme for working in PHEMS, involving time spent in Critical Care here and also working with EMRTS on the Wales Air Ambulance at Caernarfon.
Wrexham Maelor Hospital, doctors coming to work for us will find great transport routes to the bigger cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, all within easy travelling distance while you are with us at the hospital.
The hospital is home to the Upper GI service which under the professional leadership of senior clinicians has become a respected centre for the whole of North Wales and across the border into Cheshire. The site also is leading the way in Urology research.
There is also strong cross hospital working here in North Wales, an example of this is at each site you can expect comprehensive Anaesthetics training and career opportunities to help you really move forward in this profession
If you’re looking to also experience emergency pre hospital care whilst you come to North Wales – there is regular opportunities to join together with nursing staff, medical students, ambulance, police and fire at simulations arranged by our senior doctors and trainers.
Many of our roles now advertised such as clinical fellow roles in each hospital are full of variation for the doctor thanks to a number of rotations included, so you can see if you really want to stay in Paediatrics, move to Mental Health or cross over to critical care – we are building more choice into the roles we provide.

Here also in North Wales we have three strong Postgraduate departments at Bangor, Bodelwyddan and Wrexham with teams that really go the distance to make sure all our doctors are given the best teaching, care and support possible while they train, work and live here.
All CPD courses on offer to the dental team in North West (Bangor) , Central North (Glan Clwyd) and North East Wales (Wrexham) through the Wales Deanery can be seen through the Wales Deanery course booking system, as can all dental CPD courses throughout Wales. See Course Calendar.

North Wales CDS provides some verifiable CPD to BCUHB employees through its clinical governance / quality and safety training days.
The CDS also holds accreditation for a number of National Examination Board for Dental Nursing NEBDN qualifications including National Diploma in Dental Nursing level 3 courses and post-certification courses
Other training for North Wales CDS dental employees comes through the mandatory BCUHB training either online through myESR or other courses which must be attended e.g. ILS, violence and aggression
We have 6 Dental Core Trainees (DCT1) posts in North Wales CDS/Oral and Maxillofacial department. The North Wales DCT scheme is based in Glan Clwyd Hospital.
