When Joanne approached Môn CF for support to return to employment she had been out of work for nineteen years having been a full-time carer for her disabled son. Now that her son had settled into college, she felt ready to begin the process of restarting her career.
Joanne had a background in administration, but having been out of employment for almost twenty years she felt she needed to brush up on her skills. We enrolled her onto our Steps to Success: Administration course, where she gained practical experience in the reception area of our Academy and completed a series of general and sector-specific qualifications, including Agored Cymru units in Administration & Customer Service.
Joanne was extremely interested in Môn CF’s LIFT NHS programme, and we were excited to be able to offer an administration route for the first time. Very early on in the process we were made aware by our contacts in the NHS of a vacancy for an administrator within the training department at Ysbyty Bryn Y Neuadd. Joanne’s Mentor supported her to apply for this role, and she was offered an interview under the LIFT/NHS guaranteed interview scheme. Joanne excelled in her interview, was offered the job and has since settled into working life as a member of NHS staff. We could not be prouder of her or more grateful for the support of our colleagues within the BCU Health Board.
