We are developing a real sense of pride at BCUHB. You only have to read the hundreds of compliments, letters and thank you cards we receive that reflect the excellent services we provide and how important care and compassion is to our patients. This is a reflection of all the hard work and commitment shown every day by our staff.
We recognise that staff across all of our sites and those who work in the community go the extra mile in striving to meet performance targets, whilst at the same time providing and maintaining extremely high standards of care with compassion, dignity and respect. Since 2010, we have celebrated the success or individuals, teams and volunteers with our annual Awards evening which recognizes and rewards good practice, long service and innovation across the Health Board and also shares new ways of working. Award nominations are made by staff and are open to all professions.
"It's nice to be recognised, especially by a patient. It's a challenging but rewarding job. You can make a difference, even if it's just a small difference. If it makes someone's time in hospital a little bit better, it's worth it."
"It's always nice to receive recognition. It makes such a difference being able to wake up every morning and look forward to coming in to a really great job."
"I was given the opportunity to learn the Welsh language so I could use it in the workplace and make the 'active offer' of speaking in the patients desired language. My managers and team members have been very supportive of this."
