A key lifeline

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is the largest health organisation in Wales servicing a quarter of the population across Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham) as well as some parts of mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire. It provides a full range of primary, community, mental and acute hospital services across 3 district hospitals, 22 community hospitals and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases and mental health units. BCUHB also coordinate the work of 113 GP practices and the NHS services provided by dentists, opticians and pharmacists across the region.

Revitalising healthcare in North Wales

It’s no secret that the NHS in North Wales has had its fair share of challenging times, but the forward-thinking nature and sheer drive and determination of our workforce has carried us through the dark days and we are now emerging on the other side. BCUHB is evolving and moving in a positive direction due to strategic planning, additional investment in infrastructure and more transparent communication channels between staff and Board members. Recruiting, retaining and developing a diverse and talented workforce will accelerate our journey. So why not come and build your future whilst helping us shape ours?

In 2016 and 2017 we were assessed as one of the Top 100 Employers in the UK in the annual Workplace Equality Index – a national benchmarking survey of employment practices. 2018 saw us leap up the index to 51st place overall, but more significantly we are now ranked second highest Health and Social Care organization in the UK.

BCUHB is proud to be acknowledged as a “Disability Confident Employer”. This is designed to send a clear message to disabled job applicants that they can expect to be treated fairly both within our recruitment processes and in their employment if  successful.

The aim of this campaign is to "Make the British workplace the best it can be for pregnant women and new parents. BCUHB was amongst the first of the 150+ organisations that have now signed up.

"I'm immensely proud in having established Celtic Pride - BCUHB's LGBT+ support network. BCUHB was named in Stonewall's Top 100 UK Employers in 2016, 2017 and 2018."
